Dementia and related disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease are becoming more prevalent as people live longer. It can be challenging, demanding and overwhelming to cope with cognitively impaired individuals due to their decreased memory and general decline.
FirstLantic Healthcare’s Memory Disorders Specialty Program focuses on the very specific and unique needs of persons with memory impairment, and their caregivers. We do this by:
- Promoting quality of life for the person with dementia and the caregiver
- Encouraging health and wellness
- Educating and supporting the caregiver
- Maintaining the person with dementia in his/her own home
- Providing information and referrals to community resources
- Identifying the abilities and strengths of that person to encourage participation in daily and valued activities
Medicare covers services offered in the home, including assessments of the impaired individual, creation of plans for current and future care, as well as education and training of the caregiver.
FirstLantic’s staff is specifically and extensively trained in working with those affected with memory disorders.
